Which sausages are recommended to use

We use pork sausages to make this sausages with honey and mustard recipe, however you can use any that you wish to. We find pork sausages give the tastiest results, so this is our preference.

Which mustard is best to use?

Wholegrain mustard is our go-to for this dish for the texture and milder flavour in the honey and mustard sauce for sausages. If you wanted to use English or Dijon mustard, then reduce the quantity.

Which honey is best to use?

We always keep a jar of a simple clear honey in the kitchen larder, and this is what we use to make our sticky sausages honey and mustard.

What to serve with these honey mustard sausages

These sausages are served with crispy potatoes and caramelised red onion. If you wish to, you could also serve it with a simple salad, some honey glazed carrots or even some crusty bread.

How long will these sausages keep for?

These honey and mustard glazed sausages will keep for up to three days in the fridge, once cooked and left to cool. To reheat, you can either do so in the microwave or in the oven at 180C/350F for about 10 minutes, turning often. Keep an eye on them when reheating so the glaze does not get burned.

Tips for making the best honey mustard sausages

  • We used full-sized sausages to make this dish, but you could use chipolatas or even cocktail sausages if you wanted to for this. Just ensure you use raw sausages, not the tinned sort you would use in hot dogs.
  • Keep an eye on the sausages in the pan once you add in the glaze. This is because the honey, thanks to the sugar content, can burn easily. And no one wants to burn this beautiful creation!
  • We like to cook the potatoes in the microwave as detailed in the recipe card. This is because it results in less wet potatoes that then take longer to roast and crisp up. You can boil your potatoes before roasting if you prefer too, but try to dry them before roasting to help crisp them.
  • Do adjust the seasoning on the potatoes after baking, if you prefer. We love flakey sea salt for the pops of saltiness on the roasties.
